About our family
Hello! We are the Maris family: Elena (38), Daniel (40), Mia (7) and Luca (4). We live in Mellieħa, a welcoming town in the north of Malta.
Elena works from home as a project coordinator, while Daniel works as a marine engineer. Mia is curious and creative and loves reading, drawing and swimming. Luca is cheerful and energetic and enjoys building things, listening to stories and playing outdoors.
We are a warm, respectful and easy-going family. During the week, we value a calm and reliable routine. At weekends, we enjoy going to the beach, taking walks, having family picnics, cooking together and meeting friends.
English and Maltese are spoken at home, and we also understand some Italian. We would like our au pair to feel welcome and included while also having enough privacy and free time to explore Malta, meet new people and attend a language or cultural course.
Our home and location
We live in a bright townhouse in a quiet residential part of Mellieħa. Shops, cafés, a pharmacy and bus stops are within walking distance. Regular bus connections make it possible to explore Malta without a car.
Our au pair will have a private furnished bedroom with a wardrobe, desk, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The family bathroom is shared. Meals are included, and our au pair is welcome to use the kitchen, living room and courtyard as part of the family.
Start date and duration
We are looking for an au pair who can join us from 1 October 2026 for a period of 9 to 12 months.
This is a live-in, part-time position with approximately 25–30 working hours per week. Weekends are normally free. Any occasional evening babysitting will always be discussed in advance and included within the agreed weekly schedule.
Your main duties
Helping the children get ready on weekday mornings
Accompanying them to school or to the agreed meeting point
Collecting them in the afternoon on selected days
Preparing a simple snack and occasionally a light meal for the children
Helping Mia with age-appropriate homework and reading
Playing with Luca and planning creative or outdoor activities
Keeping the children’s rooms and play areas tidy together with them
Folding the children’s laundry and preparing their school bags
Occasional evening babysitting by prior arrangement
We do not expect our au pair to undertake heavy cleaning or take responsibility for the entire household.
Typical weekly schedule
Monday to Friday: approximately 07:00–08:30 and 15:00–18:30 on agreed days
One weekday afternoon normally free
Occasional evening babysitting with advance notice
Saturday and Sunday normally free
Approximately 25–30 working hours per week in total

Who we are looking for
We would be happy to welcome someone who:
Is kind, patient, responsible and genuinely enjoys spending time with children
Has at least one year of childcare experience
Speaks conversational English at approximately B1 level or higher
Is a non-smoker
Can swim confidently and safely
Is willing to provide references and take part in a video call
Communicates openly about schedules and expectations
Has first-aid knowledge or is willing to complete a basic first-aid course
A driving licence is not required. We do not have any pets.
